Dental Crown Cost in Korea
All-Ceramic, Zirconia, PFZ and PFM Prices Explained

Medically reviewed by Dr. Sunmin Kim, Board-certified Orthodontist · Last updated 2026-10-22

Ceramic crowns are priced by material and by tooth position, so "how much is a crown in Korea?" has more than one answer. This article lists our clinic's standard crown prices by material, explains what changes the total, and what to check besides price.

What is a ceramic crown?

A crown covers the whole visible part of a tooth. It is used when a tooth is heavily filled, cracked, root-canal treated or badly discolored, or to replace an old crown.

Common crown materials

  • All-ceramic: natural translucency, used mainly for front teeth.
  • Zirconia: high strength, used for front and back teeth.
  • PFZ: zirconia core with layered porcelain, useful for dark front teeth.
  • PFM: metal core with porcelain, used for back teeth only at our clinic.

Prices in US dollars are approximate, converted at USD 1 = KRW 1,326 (exchange rate on 2026-10-22). Fees are the clinic's standard list prices and are the same for Korean and international patients. Your final quote is given after an in-person examination. Crowns are not cosmetic treatment, so VAT is not added.

Why crowns in Korea can cost less, and how to judge quality

A large number of esthetic cases and price competition in Seoul help keep fees down. Still, a low price says nothing on its own. Check which material will be used and why, how the shade will be matched to your other teeth, and what the aftercare policy is if a crown chips or comes loose after you return home.

Tip: Ask for the plan tooth by tooth, with the material and price for each, so you can compare quotes fairly.

How to choose a crown

Choose by tooth, not by one material that suits everyone. For a front tooth, appearance and the color underneath matter most; for a molar, strength matters most. The final choice should follow an examination. Results differ from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a dental crown in Korea?
At our Gangnam clinic, front-tooth crowns are KRW 700,000 (all-ceramic or zirconia, about $528) or KRW 800,000 (PFZ, about $603); back-tooth crowns are KRW 600,000 (zirconia, about $452) or KRW 450,000 (PFM, about $339). Rate: USD 1 = KRW 1,326, 2026-10-22.
Should I choose all-ceramic or zirconia?
All-ceramic gives more natural translucency and is often used for front teeth; zirconia is stronger and suits molars. A dark tooth may need zirconia or PFZ. It depends on the tooth.
Is VAT added to crowns in Korea?
No. In Korea VAT applies to cosmetic treatments such as veneers and whitening, not to crowns.
A low price worries me. What should I check?
Ask about the material, how the shade is matched, the dentist's experience and the aftercare policy. Price alone does not show quality.
