Facial Asymmetry (Midline) Correction

Facial asymmetry is when the facial bones on the left and right sides have not grown in balance. Left untreated, the asymmetry can worsen or lead to jaw joint (TMJ) disorders, so it is best treated as early as possible.

What is facial asymmetry?

Facial asymmetry is when the left and right facial bones do not grow evenly, so the midline does not line up. A perfectly symmetrical face is rare, but noticeable asymmetry is not only an esthetic concern; it can worsen into malocclusion or jaw joint (TMJ) disorders.

Genetic factors have the greatest influence on facial asymmetry, but it can also develop later in life due to accidents, leaving lost teeth unreplaced for a long time, jaw joint disorders, or a habit of resting the chin on the hand.

Our Head Director draws on 16 years of orthodontic expertise
to correct facial asymmetry.

When the length or size of the left and right sides of the jaw differs greatly, surgery may be needed.

Effects of facial asymmetry correction
