Deep Bite Correction
A deep bite is when the upper teeth cover the lower teeth excessively. It makes chewing food difficult and can cause various gum diseases and jaw joint disorders, so prompt treatment is needed.
What is a deep bite?
A deep bite is when the upper front teeth cover the lower front teeth more than normal. A severe deep bite can make the face look shorter and the jaw look square. If left untreated, it can worsen protrusion of the upper front teeth and lead to wrinkles around the mouth, various gum diseases, tooth damage, and jaw joint (TMJ) disorders.
Genetic factors account for the largest share of deep bite causes, but it can also result from having many molars extracted at once or from a teeth-grinding habit.
Effects of deep bite correction
Wrinkles around the lips disappear, giving a more youthful face shape.
Bite and jaw joint disorders improve.
A wide, square-jawed-looking face becomes slimmer.
